Corn Crop and Fertilizer Investment Discussed

Producers, agribusiness dealers, and crop scouts will take a close look at the corn crop and how to balance fertilizer costs and yields on August 13 at the Crops Training Center on the Northern Illinois Agronomy Research Center, 14509 University Road, Shabbona. The workshop will focus on the condition of the corn crop and implications for the rest of the growing season. In addition, strategies addressing adequate crop nutrition during times of high fertilizer prices will be discussed. Presenters will be Drs. Emerson Nafziger and Fabián Fernández, University of Illinois Extension specialists in crop production and soil fertility, respectively.

The workshop will include hands-on samples, printed materials, and viewing field plots (weather permitting). Three hours of continuing education units in crop management and nutrient management have been applied for for Certified Crop Advisers.

Registration begins at 8:30, and the workshop will be conducted from 9:00 to noon (lunch not provided).
