Handbook and Proceedings Available

The 1997 Illinois Agricultural Pest Management Handbook and the Proceedings of the 1997 Illinois Agricultural Pesticides Conference are available for folks who are interested in the most current recommendations and research information about pest management in crops. The Handbookcontains all the revised recommendations for managing insects, weeds, and diseases in field, forage, and vegetable crops; and it includes considerable information about agricultural pesticides. In addition, chapters focus upon insect management in stored grain and for livestock, waterhemp management, and rodent control in conservation tillage systems. The 400-page Handbook sells for $17.

The Proceedings of the 1997 Illinois Agricultural Pesticides Conference, held at the University of Illinois on January 8 and 9, contains summaries of the presentations made at the conference. Selected themes and associated presentations were the future of crop protection in agriculture, spray drift and other pesticide issues, site-specific farming, and crop protection with genetically engineered crops. If any of these (and many other) timely pest management topics and issues interests you, the Proceedings might be a worthwhile addition to your bookshelf. The Proceedings sells for $10. Both publications are available right now from the Department of Crop Sciences, S-316 Turner Hall, 1102 South Goodwin Avenue, Urbana, IL 61801.
