Causes of White Corn Plants

We have received several calls regarding "white corn." Typical causes of white corn are carryover or drift of clomazone (Command, in Commence) or drift of glyphosate (Roundup or Touchdown). However, in many cases of "white corn," these causes have been eliminated. Young corn has been under the environmental stress of cool, cloudy weather. Most of the white corn also has poor root systems. The corn at first often appears yellow, as if nutrient deficient. Albino corn is a rarity and appears completely white, not just a few white leaves.
