Free Sticky Traps Still Available!

April 14, 2000
It's not too late to sign up to participate in the 2000 Western Corn Rootworm Monitoring Program. We have reserved 10,000 sticky traps for individuals located in 34 counties (Adams, Brown, Bureau, Carroll, Champaign, Christian, Clark, DeKalb, DeWitt, Douglas, Edgar, Fulton, Grundy, Hancock, Henderson, Knox, LaSalle, Lee, Livingston, Logan, Marshall, Mason, McDonough, McLean, Mercer, Ogle, Piatt, Sangamon, Tazewell, Vermilion, Whiteside, Will, Winne-bago, and Woodford) (Figure 2). Many of these counties are considered on the "edge" of the problem, and the data obtained from these counties will assist us in tracking the spread of the western corn rootworm variant. In addition to individual requests, we have received requests from Extension educators, industry representatives, and crop consultants who are working with groups of producers in their region. We hope you take this opportunity to scout your fields in 2000 using the free sticky traps. We still have 15,000 traps available, so if you are interested in reserving your free sticky traps, please contact me by phone at (217)333-9656 or by e-mail at Ratcliffe
