Soybean Cyst Nematode Management Guide

August 13, 1999
In 1993 a manual entitled Protect Your Soybean Profits: Manage the Soybean Cyst Nematode was published with funding by the United Soybean Board through the National Soybean Checkoff. This manual was based on a previous one entitled Soybean Cyst Nematode, which was edited by Dr. William F. Moore, Mississippi State University. In July 1999 the manual was revised, and it is now entitled Soybean Cyst Nematode Management Guide. The revised manual consists of 20 pages with over 40 colored plates.

The manual was developed over the years with the soybean farmer in mind. Recommendations and information are based on decades of research on managing the soybean cyst nematode. This research shows that soybeans can often be produced profitably in spite of soybean cyst nematode infestations, but farmers must determine whether they have the problem and tailor a management program for their farms and farming operations. The Soybean Cyst Nematode Management Guide will greatly aid in accomplishing this goal.

Copies of this publication will be distributed at the University of Illinois Agronomy Day (August 26, 1999), at the 25th Annual Crop Protection Workshop (November 9 and 10, 1999 at the Clarion Hotel and Convention Center, Champaign, Illinois), and at all soybean cyst nematode clinics and plant pathology workshops held around the state.
