Agronomy Field Day

The annual Agronomy Field Day at the University of Illinois Northern Illinois Agronomy Research Center, located near Shabbona in DeKalb County, will be held on Tuesday, August 1, with tours beginning at 4:00 p.m. Tours will depart from the farmstead every 20 minutes until 5:00 and last about an hour and 45 minutes. U of I Extension specialists and educators will present information on nitrogen management, field crop insects, soybean fungicide results, and "Why Aren't Weeds Dying?" Presenters will include Dr. Emerson Nafziger, Dr. Kevin Steffey, Dale Baird, and Dawn Nordby. A pork chop meal will be available on-site at the conclusion of the tour.

The research center can be reached by going 1 mile east of Shabbona on Route 30, then 5-1/2 miles north on University Road. Continuing education units for Certified Crop Advisers will be available.--Kevin Steffey
