Field Day at the Northern Illinois Research Center: July 19
This year's Field Day at the Northern Illinois Research Center north of Shabbona will take place starting at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19. Two or three tour groups will go out, with the last one starting at about 4:40.
Speakers from the University of Illinois will provide updates on current crop challenges and on research being done to address them. Entomologist Mike Gray will discuss pests old and new: corn rootworm and stink bugs. Fabián Fernández will address variability in soil tests and how to deal with it. Emerson Nafziger will discuss tillage for corn, and Carl Bradley will talk about fungicides, including the potential for resistance to develop. Doug Maxwell and Russ Higgins will provide updates on weed and herbicide issues.
