Orr Center Field Day Is July 18
The Agronomy Field Day at the Orr Center near Perry will take place on Monday, July 18, starting at 4:00 p.m. Speakers from the University of Illinois will discuss topics of interest to producers, consultants, and landowners. A free meal will be served after the tours to those who take part.
Speakers include plant pathologist Carl Bradley, who will discuss the new threat of fungicide resistance. Soybean breeder Brian Diers will talk about breeding progress in soybeans. Entomologist Mike Gray will address the new threat of stink bugs and the old nemesis corn rootworm.
Emerson Nafziger will talk about tillage for corn production, and Fabián Fernández will discuss how to respond to soil test variability. Doug Maxwell will provide an update on weed management.
Two-hour tours begin at 4:00, 4:20, and 4:40, with time for questions allowed at each stop. Continuing education units will be available for CCAs.
